My name is Vickie McVay and I am a licensed clinical social worker. Since receiving my Master’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan College I have been working with a variety of populations. My extensive background has encompassed working with individuals who have a history of trauma, Co-occurring Disorders, young adults, and those with cognitive limitations. I have had specialized training, including Domestic Violence at the Young Women’s Christian Association, and Child and Adolescent Hospitalization located at Strong Memorial Hospital. I received further training at the Catholic Family Center of Rochester New York as a Co-occurring Clinician for individuals with both a history of mental health and substance-related disorders.
My approach involves the use of psychoanalytic theory with CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and DBT. My goal is to meet individuals where they are and work with them to understand the perspective they come from. This allows us to recognize and build on their strengths. By identifying achievable goals and objectives, my clients are able to recognize their own progress in growth and healing.
