Making Therapy Possible For Everyone

There are many barriers to accessing quality mental health care. For some, having a telehealth session at home is not an option. Others have childcare responsibilities that make scheduling an appointment difficult. Renew CareConnect is an attempt to increase access to therapy by addressing these challenges.

What is Renew CareConnect

Renew CareConnect is a partnership between Renew Hope and Healing and the YMCA to increase access to mental health counseling services. Through the generosity of the Schottland Family YMCA and the YMCA of Greater Rochester, Renew clients may have access to:

  1. Free childcare during their therapy session with a Renew therapist
  2. A quiet space to have their telehealth session with their therapist at the Schottland Family YMCA

How To Request Renew CareConnect

Renew CareConnect is not available for all sessions. To request this service for an upcoming session, please give us a call 585-398-8835 and press 7 Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5PM.

When it comes time for your appointment, plan to arrive 15 minutes early (or 20 minutes early for your first time). Walk through the main doors and inform the greeters that you are there for “Renew CareConnect”. If you are utilizing Schottland YMCA’s Child Watch services, ask the greeters to direct you to where to drop of your child. Ask a staff member to direct you to the dedicated room where you can have your therapy session. Connect to the YMCA’s wifi network or your mobile hotspot to start your telehealth session. The YMCA has a free, public wifi network. No password is required.

FAQs

How much does this cost?

Renew CareConnect is a free service to eligible sessions with Renew Hope and Healing therapists. It is still your responsibility to pay for all therapy services. 

Do I have to be a parent?

No. You can use Renew CareConnect for just the quiet space to have your telehealth session with a therapist. You do not need to utilize the YMCA’s Child Watch.

Do I need to sign up ahead of time or can I just show up to the Schottland YMCA?

You need a confirmed reservation for the specific day and time of your session. Please call us to request a reservation 585-398-8835.

What is YMCA Child Watch?

From the YMCA website: “During designated Child Watch hours, Child Watch gives parents and guardians the chance to have their kids be in a safe, clean space. This benefit is for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Parents/Guardians cannot leave the building while children are signed into Child Watch care.” See the YMCA website for more details.

Do I have to be a member of the YMCA to use Renew CareConnect?

No. Through this partnership you have free access to Child Watch and the space to have your therapy session.

Can I leave while my child is in Child Watch?

No, you cannot leave the Schottland Family YMCA while your child is in Child Watch. 

How long can I leave my child in Child Watch?

No longer than 90 minutes. 

How many times can I use Renew CareConnect?

This service is subject to availability and eligibility. There is no set limit to how many sessions an individual can utilize Renew CareConnect. 

What do I need to bring?

A phone, tablet, or laptop to open the SimplePractice telehealth video call. If you are using Schottland YMCA’s Child Watch, you will need your photo ID to drop off and pick up your child.

Can I meet with my therapist at the Schottland Family YMCA?

No. This service is only for telehealth sessions with your therapist.
