Hello! My name is Kirsten Jeffers, LCSW. If you are experiencing life transitions and looking for a clinician to guide you on your journey, we may be a great match. I work with clients to discover and live their values, to break free of aspects of their lives that have led to feeling “stuck,” by utilizing a ACT approach. My goal is to create a client-led environment of inclusivity and authenticity. I enjoy working with individuals going through life transitions; individuals with Bipolar Disorder; and individuals in active recovery from either mental illness or addiction. I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy in my techniques.
Growing up, I witnessed my own father’s journey with Bipolar Disorder and the struggles he encountered by not having the advantage of good therapy. One of the reasons I became a therapist was to help people along their mental health journeys the way I wished someone had been there to help my father. I originally attended St John Fisher College for my BA in English and Secondary Education to pursue a teaching career. I attended SUNY Brockport for my first MA in English and most recently I attended The University of Southern California for my MSW.
In my personal life, I am a casual folk artist dabbling in fiber art and quilting. I enjoy winter months snuggled up to my sewing machine or a good book and summer months gardening, painting murals, and lounging in my swimming pool. I also enjoy traveling with my husband whenever I can. I have two grown children making their way in the world.
