Allison Fitzsimmons, LCAT, is a dedicated creative arts therapist and graduate of Nazareth College. Throughout her career, she has gained experience working with youth in various settings, including residential facilities with a focus on eating disorders and day programs. Her work with youth has equipped her with valuable insights into the unique challenges they face. In addition to her work with young people, Allison also sees adult clients in her private practice. Her expertise spans a wide range of issues, such as trauma, personality disorders, eating disorders, and relational issues. She has experience in working with youth who exhibit problematic sexual behavior. Allison has specialized training in both Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and utilizes a person-centered approach.
In her therapeutic practice, Allison places a strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel truly heard and understood. She believes that this sense of safety is important for developing a strong therapeutic rapport between the therapist and client. Allison is passionate about integrating creative arts and play therapy into her sessions when appropriate, as these modalities can offer additional pathways for expression and healing. Outside of her professional life, Allison enjoys spending time outdoors spending time in the company of her dogs, family, and friends.
