Erin Pixley Thurston is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of SUNY Potsdam and Roberts Wesleyan College, bringing over 20 years of experience supporting children, families, and individuals in mental health, medical, and non-profit settings. She also holds a trauma certification from the University at Buffalo.
Erin has worked in both inpatient and outpatient care, with special interests in perinatal and postpartum mental health, trauma recovery, and domestic violence. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and EMDR, and has completed additional training in infant mental health. Before entering private practice, she spent 12 years with the Healthy Moms Program at Rochester Regional Health, where she provided therapy, led groups, and served as Program Manager.
In her work, Erin strives to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and accepted exactly as they are. She believes that each person is the expert of their own experience and that therapy is a place where unconditional acceptance and self-discovery can flourish. Her role is to walk alongside clients—offering support, tools, and insight as they move toward healing and growth. Erin especially enjoys working with those navigating depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as clients looking to deepen their self-awareness and explore identity.
Outside of her professional life, Erin is an avid reader and music lover who enjoys spending time with her husband, three amazing teens, their dog, and close friends. A lifelong Rochester native, she loves being outdoors, surrounded by nature and animals—and has even been known to dabble in roller derby.
