Matthew Sodaro is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who earned his Bachelor of Social Work from SUNY Fredonia and his Master of Social Work from the University at Buffalo. Throughout his career, he has worked with a diverse range of individuals, including adults with serious and persistent mental illness, incarcerated individuals, and members of the Native American community. These experiences have strengthened his commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care and have reinforced the importance of building genuine, trusting relationships with every client.
Matthew believes that therapy can be beneficial for everyone, regardless of where they are in life. Having experienced the benefits of therapy himself as a teenager navigating depression, he understands the value of having a safe, supportive space to feel heard and understood. One lesson that has stayed with him throughout his career is that therapists benefit from therapy, too—a reminder that we are all human and that caring for ourselves helps us better care for others.
Matthew's goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free environment where clients feel respected, supported, and empowered. He believes the most effective therapy is guided by each client's unique goals, not a one-size-fits-all approach. By taking the time to understand each person's experiences, strengths, and values, Matthew tailors therapy to meet their individual needs and help them navigate life's challenges with confidence.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing video games, and making time for self-care so he can bring his best self to both his personal life and his work with clients.
