Hello, my name is Laura Jowly, LCSW. Starting therapy can be an intimidating and challenging decision. This is why patient centered care is important to me. Understanding goals of clients, meeting them where they are, and providing a safe space for them to express their feelings and emotions, in my experience, has granted best patient outcomes. With the clients permission, I tend to structure sessions in a way that I find is most helpful in meeting their goals, (focusing on 1-2 things per session instead of 15). I typically develop this alongside the client when planning their treatment.
I have found great success in working with addiction/recovery, depression, anxiety, life stressors, grief, and loss. If you are struggling with any of these things, I would love to work with you. I have a great deal of experience in practicing coping skills of DBT (mindfulness specifically) that have aided me through life challenges. I look forward to helping you on your journey of healing.
A bit about me: I was born in Campbellsville, KY and moved to NY when I was 3y/o. I have spent most of my life in Rochester, enjoying skiing, diving, gymnastics and being outside. I have a daughter (11 y/o) and together we enjoy traveling to Costa Rica and spending time on Keuka Lake. I enjoy skiing, diving, gymnastics, traveling, and learning Spanish.
