Hello, my name is Dan Depasquale, LMSW. After realizing that becoming a teacher was not for me, and experiencing the impact that therapy had on my life, I decided to pursue social work and specialize in helping others, specifically pre teens and older struggling with anxiety, teens adjusting to adult life, and those struggling with the problematic use of modern technology (social media, smartphones, etc.). I have worked with adults of all ages and children as young as 5 years old. However most of my clinical experience has been with teenagers and up. Developing a good therapeutic relationship is particularly important.
I place an emphasis on helping clients clarify and connect with their values, identify areas of their life in which they have drifted from those values, and use that to guide short-term and long-term goals. I am flexible and allow either the client, or myself, to lead sessions and tailor my approach to what the client prefers. I aim to have clients leave the session with a plan to try out a new skill and/or take a step toward avoided but valued activities outside of session.
A bit about me: I grew up in Fairport and started playing the drums at a young age. I was heavily involved in music both in school and in several bands I formed with friends throughout middle and high school. I enjoy being outdoors and hiking trails when possible (I have some physical limitations that make this difficult at times). I like to play cards, particularly euchre. I love a wide range of music, including the Beatles, 90s alt rock, and early 2000’s pop punk. I love to cook. I also enjoy listening to podcasts and I am an avid reader.
