Claire Hawley Zarcone, LMSW, has a passion for working with individuals with dual diagnosis addiction, survivors of both human trafficking and domestic abuse, those dealing with unhealthy relationships, and supporting the senior community. Her experience spans a variety of settings, including group, residential, court, outpatient addiction rehabilitation, and individual settings.
Claire has drawn inspiration for the field from some of her own experiences attending therapy. When her children were young, she found it challenging to find purpose outside of motherhood. Her sessions led her to goal-setting, which resulted in her attending Brockport for grad school, where she received her MSW.
“I enjoy meeting and excel in forming connections with people from all backgrounds. I do particularly enjoy helping women to find confidence and harness their power to form, meet, and exceed their own goals… I approach therapy from a person-in-environment perspective. We all exist within a network of systems: biological, family, social, educational, etc. As humans we must navigate these systems, find our place within them, and teach ourselves how to thrive. Through our conversations, I will collect information in three main spheres—biological, psychological, and social. I will use my education and experience to assess and guide. I will offer resources and methods for alleviating mental health obstacles or achieving goals, but it is not my goal to tell you what to do or give you instructions. I work in partnership with the client to set and achieve goals. It is your life, I just want to help you lead the best one for you.”
In her free time, Claire values spending time with her family. She finds solace in the tranquility of nature, delves into the virtual realm of video games like Minecraft, and immerses herself in the world of science fiction through reading and watching shows. Star Trek: The Next Generation holds a special place in her heart as her go-to comfort show.
