Hello! My name is Brittany Denby, LMSW. If you or your child are struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, LGBTQIA, depression, anxiety, and/or ADHD, I would love to help you work through and past these struggles. I have worked with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults in my previous jobs and helping them see the impact their past has had on them and helping them get through that to be their best selves is my favorite part about this field. I do my best to create a comfortable and open setting for my clients. Rapport is the most important part of the therapeutic relationship and once that is established securely, anything is possible. I enjoy allowing clients to guide when they want and helping them by prompting or utilizing activities when they don’t want to or can’t guide the session. I try to be very transparent with my clients at all stages allowing them to know what to expect from me so there are no surprises.
I went to GCC SUNY Empire for my undergrad degrees and worked in a different field for most of my adult life. In 2020 I decided I wanted to work in a field that was more hands on in helping others so I enrolled and graduated from University at Buffalo with my Master’s in Social Work. I have certifications to utilize progressive counting, TF-CBT, MI, and over 30 hours in play therapy including play therapy with trauma.
A bit about me: I love being outside hiking, boating, kayaking, riding atvs and when I’m in Florida to visit my mom, I love snorkeling in the ocean. I have a daughter who is 5, two dogs and four cats. All of which help me keep my sanity somedays and push it other days. I also love traveling, although I haven’t gotten outside of the US (other than Canada) yet but my goal is to make it to Ireland and Italy sometime in the near future! As someone who has been through significant trauma and who has struggled with anxiety, grief, severe guilt, and depression after the death of my grandmother and brother, this is what made me want to pursue helping others through difficult times, I hope to work with you!
