About Me

Amanda Abbott, LCSW, has a extensive background in assisting clients who have faced trauma. She has experience working with both children and adults, guiding them in processing traumatic experiences and developing new skills to navigate the challenges that arise. When working with children, Amanda uses Non-Directed Play Therapy, integrating it into her sessions. She has collaborated with children and families involved with Child Protective Services, including supervised visitations. Amanda has received extensive training in trauma and healing, including EMDR. She is particularly passionate about working with clients whose relationships have been affected by narcissistic or borderline personality disorders, and she has hands-on experience with Veterans, especially in crisis management.

Amanda earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Keuka College. Her therapeutic approach focuses on guiding clients through their healing journey, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and supported. She incorporates modalities such as TF-CBT, DBT, Play Therapy, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems, all while maintaining a solution-focused perspective.

In her personal life, Amanda traveled extensively across the United States during her childhood before making New York her home. She appreciates the opportunity to experience diverse cultures. As an avid camper, she continues to explore various destinations with her family. Additionally, Amanda is a devoted animal lover and has several pets, including a goat!
